STEMACES Hardware

STEMACES activities use a small hardware kit that works directly with the web app. The kit lets students collect real-world data and use it in programs & plots.

Hardware in the Kit

ComponentWhat it doesWhy we use it
Adafruit Metro Mini + breadboardRuns the microcontroller code and connects all parts in one circuitProvides the bridge between physical sensors and the web app
Light sensorMeasures light intensity (bright vs dim)Supports experiments about daylight, shadows, and environmental change
Temperature sensorMeasures ambient temperatureSupports weather, climate, and data-logging activities
Motion sensorDetects nearby movement and distance changesSupports interaction-based projects and event triggers

For setup of the Adafruit Metro Mini see Connecting Hardware.

Connection of the respective sensors are elaborated on in the curriculum.
